statement
When I have an idea, it's as if I can taste it. This idea becomes burned in my brain like a photo, leaving me yearrning to bring it into reality. If the time between the idea and the creation is too long my body swells with emotion. I cannot sleep or concentrate.
Before it happens, I can feel the blue yarn cutting into my body. It is a pure necessity for my body to experience what it actually feels like to have the yarn penetrate my skin. The body interacts with the yarn to create a sculptural form.
Because of the need to physically experience the yarn or other material, I often lose control of how the photos are taken. The loss of control is regained by cropping the photos. This action pushes the photos beyond pure documentation. They become a window into a world that exists for a few seconds.
My work dissipates as fast as it creates itself. This quality often leaves me trying to catch up intellectually with what I have created. I understand that the cropped view may be more interesting then the entire view. The entire view reminds me of a bad drawing. Each bad drawing has a beautiful section. I find this section and create a window into a world which in turn creates an objectless desire for the viewer.
